Bruh' Coyote... A Contemporary Folktale

Bruh' Cotoye sat high up on the hill.

Away from the creatures and characters walking by.

He felt that, at a distance, he could observe his surroundings.

He wanted to know what others didn’t and he wanted to see what others couldn’t.

Bruh' Coyote sat there, perched like a bird.

His eyes darting back and forth;

to and fro as he observed the creatures and characters.

Bruh' Coyote saw things that he didn’t need to and heard things he wasn’t supposed to but that was all a part of the process of observation.

One day, he was noticed by a few creatures and characters.

Slowly but surely they began to watch Bruh' Coyote just as he watched them.

After a while Bruh' Coyote got tired of being watched and he retreated from high up on that hill.

Bruh' Coyote didn’t like how it felt to be watched and listened to without his permission so he decided to watch and listen just a little less.
